I've had some redness/rosacea flare ups lately from perimenopause (more on that in a future post) and have been keeping the makeup very minimal while my skin is healing.
Also I’ve had to finally give up prescription Tretinoin which I’ve been trying out since the fall 😭 but my husband Abe has been putting my leftovers to good use! I have him on a whole routine now, where I leave all my actives out on the bathroom counter (like the Skincare Fairy) before bed.
💚 Step 1: Meebak Cica Redness Solution Cream — This is a BB Cream that is green-tinted to counter-act rosacea and redness. That said, I don’t feel like it did as good a job as regular old Glossier concealer, but on days when my skin isn’t too flared up, it’s good for a general evening out. I also like how it doesn’t feel heavy — more like nourishing skincare. I got this product on Amazon where it was actually cheaper than it was at Olive Young.
FYI Hero Cosmetics makes a similar one in green but I have that in apricot already. Sometimes I will use that instead, if my skin is not super-red… and if I’m being completely honest, I also have been putting on diaper cream1 as a base for no-makeup days.
Rosacea is still a new struggle for me (and it’s creeping into my eye area too, which is why I am not wearing any eye makeup) so I’d love any tried-and-true advice from those who have been living with this condition for a while.
🌟 Step 2: e.l.f. Halo Glow Liquid Filter: I have been trying to figure out how the heck to use this stuff on my own for almost two years now (it’s a much cheaper version of the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter, which I’ve only experienced when I’m working on set). I think it’s better on it’s own then mixed into or under foundation, which often feels like overkill.
The bases I mentioned above in Step 1 often leave my skin looking flat and kinda pale, so I like putting this on my cheeks, nose, and chin to add some glow-y depth. You can find this product at most drugstores and Amazon; I got mine at Target.
💄 Step 3: Peripera Ink Mood Glowy Tint: I really enjoy this “tint” which I thought was a “stain” when I bought it and was surprised that I kept having to reapply it. But no biggie; the formula feels nice on the lips, not sticky at all.
This is the color “melon” (which is now out of stock). I bought it a while back in Koreatown at a random beauty store, but you can also buy it online: Amazon, iherb, YesStyle, or Stylevana.
P.S. Isn’t the song in the makeup video incredible?! It’s Labi Siffre’s2 Bless the Telephone from 1971. Here’s the full version; also on Spotify, Amazon, and Apple Music.

You’re probably already familiar with his music from when Eminem sampled “I Got The…” for “My Name Is.”
