I work from home, rarely go to parties, and only get dressed up for auditions (which take less than an hour). I shared last year that I mostly wear pajamas so this winter I decided to really lean into that uniform.
I’m always cold so only getting naked once a day has been a game changer! I’ll shower at night, put on some loungewear or a sweatsuit to sleep in, and dress them up the next day with a sweater and jewelry.
I’ve found that adding a hair accessory (like these bows or this giant scrunchie) is an easy way to add some practical fun.
Sometimes just throwing on a big statement coat and boots makes all the difference and distracts from the prints that scream YUP THESE ARE PAJAMAS.
And often times, I’m wearing things to sleep in that aren’t even marketed as pajamas. Like just a T-shirt and leggings or yoga pants…
… I’ve also been loving these comfy and warm shirts which are (I’m guessing) inspired by the Skims tops. They go great with big, baggy sweats.
Almost everything in this post can be found on my Amazon Storefront. I want to confess that I feel some guilt/shame surrounding the fast fashion of it all. It reminds me of when I first began food blogging in 2009 — I felt embarrassed admitting I still drank Diet Coke or ate a lot of highly processed “junk food” — which other food writers I respected all considered to be huge no-no’s. But when I stopped labeling things as “good” or “bad,” it actually helped me avoid the black/white thinking that helped me finally overcome a lifelong eating disorder.
I think I’m trying to balance that side of me here, too. I don’t feel like I’m part of the fashion industry and do not consider myself to be an expert (nor do I aspire to become one). And I will say that the clothing I do buy, I wear on a constant rotation, and don’t find myself getting rid of any quicker than I do the more sustainable, “conscious-clothing” brands I own…
But I’m not completely ignorant, either. Fast fashion is bad for designers, it’s bad for the workers, it’s bad for the environment. It’s something I will continue to re-evaluate and figure out as I continue to write about what I wear.
In the meantime I suggest checking out this post about dupes by

I know it's a little more of an investment, but have you tried the Woolx shirts and leggings yet? Still my uniform 5 years running! (wearing their PJs right now, in fact)
I love this idea, but only being cold once a day! And the hair bow has such great impact! Thank you so much for including me in your work. I am so grateful ☺️
