Beauty and fashion are super personal, and of course I realize not everyone shares the same taste as me (or has similar hair/body/skin types). That’s why every now and then, I’ll feature someone else’s favorites and recommendations. Read other past guests posts here.
I’m really excited to have my friend Jess Zaino today for so many reasons. She just wrote a book, Do You! How To Master An Epic Midlife which I finished in just two days and found to be a really practical guide to career/life in general — but also fascinating to learn more about my friend. Jess has worn so many impressive hats throughout her career (from Emmy-award nominated producer of The Chew — the only talk show show I’ve watched every single episode of — to co-founder/former CEO of The Jane Club, which is how I met her — to her current position as Senior Director of Brand Partnerships for Kevin Hart’s media company Hartbeat).
She dives into these experiences throughout the book. Here is the recent launch party!
When I think of Jess, I think of my friend who has been there for me in my most difficult of times — in ways I didn’t even know I needed. For example, when my first dog Julius passed away, Jess saw me crying and wordlessly wrapped me in a blanket, giving me the biggest hug before allowing me space to just be in my grief. I’ll never ever forget that. While going through an identity crisis mid-pandemic, she invited me to be part of a weekly phone session with other peeps grappling with similar issues.
And here she is, baring all for my blog my talking about her boobs! In all my bra-talk here, I have wondered about and wanted to have a space for my readers who are above a B-cup. Jess is a 34F and today, she is sharing her big-breasted bra advice!
Name: Jess Zaino, author of Do You! How To Master An Epic Midlife
Generation: Gen X (marks the spot!)
Sleepover Essentials: I was Gen X. My parents would drop me on a corner in my pajamas and I’d hope to be picked up the next day.
Cozi TV is a free broadcast channel that I figured out how to watch on the television in my bedroom by sticking a paperclip into the coaxial cable.
Most weeknights I snuggle up with my 9-year-old and we watch reruns of Frasier and The Nanny. A commercial that is on constant repeat is a bra advertisement for Honeylove that promises a pain-free bra experience because of the no-underwire features. My 9-year-old son buys into the branding and always exclaims that he wants to wear one (I don’t think he knows what a bra is yet).
I myself cannot wear a no-underwire bra. My tits are BIG, Y’ALL! I’m like that famous Terry Hatcher line from Seinfeld, “They’re real and they’re spectacular.” Thank you to Grandma Marie for my Italian curves and love of pasta (thanks to the Sophia Loren line too) that has had me on the search for the perfect support since puberty.
I’ll often buy bras from Target or online but if I’m upscaling it, I’ll head over to Jenette Bras in Burbank which touts the alphabet starts at D! …and by their measurements, I am a 34F. This makes for somewhat of an uphill climb for what works for my woman parts.
And lucky for me, I’m a lady who loves lingerie (and alliteration). I buy A LOT of my bras and underthings from Shein (I also love fast fashion, sorry). They are very accommodating of curvy girls who need support and style.
What I CANNOT do is lean into any kind of bralette, no bra, strapless, sticky tape that assures support LBT (little bitty titty) b*llsh*t. So, I look for 36DDD styles that lift and push. My favorites are:
Secret Treasures from Walmart (this is my favorite bra of all time with sexy leopard print and ultimate support)
Auden from Target when I need a good t-shirt bra with sexy style
Walcoal for when I need to workout
SKIMS Nipple Push-Up Bra when I’m feeling FEISTY
SHEIN Intimates for when I want something super sexy
Having bigger boobies can be both empowering and challenging. People often notice, and it becomes a defining part of one’s beauty. Finding the right bra has been a bit trickier than the regular gal, but I’ve learned to embrace my individuality which has led to deeper self-acceptance and a celebration of my womanly breasts.
Wacoal’s bras are my absolute favourite. They hold the girls in (mine are…like water balloons- they need containment!), are pretty and comfortable. 💕And they carry my size (34DD), which just isn’t in stores very often.
