Last month, I temporarily dyed my hair dark again to see if it might help me book some acting jobs. And, just a few weeks later, I did!!!! So I recently visited my colorist to go back to my natural hair color, covering up 6 years of bleach and highlights so it wouldn’t fade while I was in the midst of shooting.

The first few days, like a vampire, I couldn’t get used to my reflection. I thought I looked like one, too 🧛🏻♀️. All my clothing had been calibrated to me as a blonde, so dark colors made me look more goth than I'd like, while light colors made me look even paler. So I put on the brightest tops I could find (many from Abe’s closet) and lots of blush and lip tints.
Now, a week later, I’m a lot more used to the new/old me. I do enjoy how soft my locks feel, but not crazy about the gray roots as they grow back in. So I’m going to wait a few months before I decide if I want to re-highlight it again. I can’t say I had more fun being a blonde, but I definitely liked looking as if I did.

📺 Wonder Man: We resubscribed to Disney+ this month so we could watch The Muppet Show — which was great — but the most unexpected delight was this Marvel mini series that is a lot more about an actor’s life than his superhero powers. Stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley have such wonderful chemistry, and it’s fun to see a show with so many LA locations.
🎬 I Could Never Be Your Woman: I don’t know how I missed this Amy Heckerling film in 2007, but I probably wouldn’t have appreciated all the middle aged themes back then. It’s quite weird, but quite funny (though some jokes aren’t anymore in 2026) and getting to see 12-year-old Saoirse Ronan hold her own opposite Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd is reason enough to rent it. It’s currently free on Kanopy and Hoopla with your library card.
🎶 In college I was the musical director of an a cappella group and one song I arranged was Jonatha Brooke/The Story’s “So Much Mine” — a gorgeous song about motherhood. I recently went down a YouTube rabbit hole listening to her many live duets, and was shocked when I saw my own friend Janet Varney accompanying Jonatha in one!
🍠 Japanese Purple Sweet Potatoes: Christy and I met up at Whole Foods recently for a shopping date, and I mistakenly grabbed some Japanese sweet potatoes instead of Korean ones for Abe. He did not like them (they’re a lot less sweet), so I wound up eating them, and now I’m obsessed. I eat one, roasted, straight up, every single day.
🌽 Sanissimo Salmas are gluten free and made with just six ingredients. I can have issues with portion control so I like that they’re individually wrapped. They taste like corn chips, but in cracker form — I eat them with cottage cheese or tuna/chicken salad.

🩷 Pixi LiquidGlow Blush: as mentioned above, I have been incorporating a lot more color into my daily makeup routine lately, and this latest gift from Pixi PR has been my go-to. I dab just a tiny bit of the highly-pigmented serum blush (my favorite shades are “Peony” and “Pretty”) on my cheeks and it stays on for hours. (Pixi also calls it a lip tint, but I highly advise against that — it feels weird and gets very messy/splotchy on the mouth.)
🧴Uni 24-Hour Body Serum: Another PR gift. This stuff comes in a really chic pump and smells subtle (Cedar, Juniper, Sandalwood) but lovely. But most importantly, it does a great job of hydrating my skin — I slather it on before body lotion or oil, but it’s good on it’s own too (I know because I use it on my hands and they haven’t been as crackly). FYI it’s creamy, not liquid-y, like some face serums. Use code LYNNC15 for 15% off.
🐝 I forgot how great Bumble and Bumble’s Invisible Oil line was until they gifted me with some to promote Charli XCX’s The Moment (which I haven’t seen, but I’m guessing she uses these products)1. The leave-in conditioner has heat protection so I don’t have to use a separate product, and the styling cream is really good at reducing frizz.

👜 I bought two faux suede accessories recently that I’m pretty obsessed with. There are a lot of “viral Zara leather jackets” hovering around the internet, but this one, IMHO, is better than all of them because it’s fleece-lined and has pockets. Over at GAP, I picked up this bucket bag which can pretty much fit a laptop and an entire meal plus snacks. I got a pair of stirrup leggings too, because I’m nostalgic like that.
👚 I also stocked up on a bunch of basics from Aerie/American Eagle since they have an extra 20% code (SHOPMY20) through February 25th. I got several pairs of pajamas, socks, underwear, and T-shirts.
🧶 I guess I’ve been doing a lot of retail therapy this month… I also took advantage of some end-of-season sales to add two Fair Isle sweaters to my collection. This blue one from J.Crew has been favorited for months and is now final sale, so I sized up just in case. And I also got this brown cardigan version from Nordstrom Rack for 50% off that is super soft and snuggly.

⏱️ It took several decades, but Abe just bought his first Swatch, which inspired me to put a new battery into my Dad’s old Pulsar. It’s been so nice to look at my wrist instead of my phone.
💻 How to clean your laptop (Wirecutter Video) — I give my MacBook Air a wipe every single day and it's still gross.
🐒 A Lonely Baby Monkey Wins Hearts, and Even a Few Friends (NYT, gifted link) — No surprise, the IKEA toy is out of stock.
✍️ Low Maintenance — Ben Sinclair (from HBO’s High Maintenance) is on Substack and I’ve been liking his spiritual perspective on life in Hollywood (and drugs).

BTW I am loving the Wuthering Heights soundtrack. I also enjoyed watching the movie for Valentine’s Day, but I never read the book.

I was excited to see Saving Face pop up as part of the Valentine's/romance programming this month at Alamo Drafthouse!
So many things! 1. I love the new/old hair, you look great! 2. THANK YOU for reminding me how much I used to love that Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil line. Maybe that's what I need now! 3. LYNN. You have to read the book Wuthering Heights, no joke, it's incredible. Okay done. Thank you thank you thank you!
