Gen x Taste is a lifestyle blog and newsletter for those who still don’t know what they want to be when they grow up (even if they’re over 40).
I’ve been blogging since the beginning of blogs, before social media and smart phones were invented. Back then I wrote about food and acting via The Actor’s Diet1, but then I developed a food allergy, and began migrating behind the camera.
I wanted to shift into writing about stuff like style and skincare, but wasn’t sure how. I’m no expert in these kinds of things, and I don’t know nearly as much as the millennials or Gen Z-ers. (Could I sound any older right now?)
So I am starting over here. This new blog sits at the intersection of nostalgia and novelty, an exploration of embracing the evolution. From caring for my wrinkling skin to dressing (and addressing) my aging body, Gen x Taste is for anyone who still feels like they have a lot to learn, and is curious what growing up in the 70’s/80’s/90’s might have to teach us today. (I just realized every paragraph I’ve written on this page ends with a sentence in parentheses so I’m keeping it going.)
Aside from outfits and sales and beauty recommendations, here is a cross-section of what other types of things you’ll be reading here:
A note about subscribing — I post here weekly so when you sign up, you’ll get each post sent directly to your inbox (but you can always switch to a monthly roundup if that’s too much). Save that if you want to revisit, because things go behind a paywall after publishing. Paid subscribers will get full access to the archives, occasional exclusive posts with audio narration, weekly news/recs and additional musings I don’t wish to share publicly (translation: gossip).
My aim is to keep these posts sponsor-free, so if you’d like to support me with a paid subscription, that would be helpful. Please note: I do use affiliate links (and may make a commission from your purchases). I write more about why I paywall my posts here.
I’ve imported many of those old blog posts to this site — just search the archives!
